This past Monday, the 30th of June, was Theo’s third birthday. I found myself wondering how on earth were we already celebrating his third birthday? It feels as though it was only yesterday that I collected 10 week old puppy Theo from the pet courier service, bringing him home and placing him on the floor in front of Zena and observing the two of them get to know each other. Initially Zena gave me a look that I interpreted as being ‘are you f***ing kidding me mum? A puppy?’ However a puppy was what she needed. Zena had become a little depressed after Cadel died. She had never spent a day in our home as a single dog. So whilst as a puppy Theo definitely drove Zena a little crazy from time to time, they quickly became the best of friends, rarely seen without the other.

But time has apparently flown and Theo is now three years old. It is safe to safe he is spoilt rotten - he lives with us after all :) However I believe that dogs give us more than we give them and Theo is no exception

Theo is the smallest male dog to have lived with us. He is gentle and kind in nature; you could even say he approaches most things in life delicately. He is also cheeky, intelligent and sometimes down right silly. His favourite thing in the world is to cuddle up with David or myself, particularly if we’re in the sun or under the heating vent. Being warm and cosy guarantees a happy Theo.
Here’s to many more years sharing life with Theo x
Happy Birthday Theo. Just found you, thank you Substack. In an awful week in which I very unexpectedly became dogless, I am subscribing so as to enjoy dogs vicariously while I negotiate a life without a pet for the first time in 20 years. Kind of sucks just at present.
