Dual Views - A Side Project With Lisa Toll Week 37
As I sit here preparing this post I find myself a little stunned that Lisa and I have managed to take a sunset photo every week this year. Not just that, but we’ve also edited our favourite and published it here. I feel pleased with us both for managing this task, especially because I know the highs and lows the two of us have had throughout the year. For our photo this past Sunday, I was drawn to photograph the blossoms on our fruit trees at sunset, after having an inspiring video call with an artist friend. Yet I wasn’t to know that when it came to sunset Sunday for Lisa (of which I will never not tire of referring to her as living in the past, because here in Australia we’re in front of the US time zone wise) she would be waiting, terrified, to receive news from an emergency vet who was treating one of her dogs Griffon. I felt uncomfortable asking Lisa to capture the sunset, but did so knowing our one caveat for this project has always been, if something happens that causes us to not be able to take a sunset photo then we can dig into our archives for something suitable.
Thankfully Griffon is okay and Lisa got her photo. Her words are below.
Golden hour 21 September 2025. After a stressful day full of worry for our 7 year old dog my spouse & I were not in the mood to cook. We tried a place near home for dinner. I was seated next to a window and hoping for some sunset drama to be visible. I take too many photos, just ask Kim, but it served me well this night. There was no drama visible from where I was. As golden hour started I was observing the light and looking for my moment. I noticed the reflection of the American football game (Kansas City V NY) on the TV in the restaurant bar reflecting on the window. I waited until #87 was in the tv shot and took the photo that is my choice for my project sunset photo this week. For the non-Swifties in the world #87 for Kansas City is Taylor Swifts (recently promoted from boyfriend) fiancé. It’s a love story (Taylor’s version 😜) which has all of us Swifties swimming in a sea of dopamine. We love ❤️Love❤️ for our girl. Because of Ms Swift Travis Kelce (#87) is getting a lot of attention and scrutiny lately as, to be quite blunt, his game is *off*. Anyways…here I was looking for light, drama, and sunset vibes. I found some golden daylight alongside her lover.
From Taylor’s song Daylight
- And I can still see it all (in my mind)
All of you, all of me (intertwined)
I once believed love would be (black and white)
But it's golden (golden)
And I can still see it all (in my head)
Back and forth from New York (sneakin' in your bed)
I once believed love would be (burnin' red)
But it's golden
Like daylight

2019 Lover track 18
In news that may surprise Lisa, I took too many photos during Sunday’s sunset. 62 actually. I've deleted some but kept most of them. I’d like to edit my favourites and share them together somewhere. And use them as inspiration for painting. They have such lovely colours, what with the promise of the fruit that is to come once the blossoms have gone and the gorgeous blue orange colours behind them.
Kim.

62!!! Be right back, I’m gonna need to go find a soft surface upon which to faint. 🤭🤭🤭
